Visit the aboriginal axe grinding site and see strange objects along the route through Macgregor. 7.5Km, around 2.5 hrs walking

Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve Walk from Mulligans Flat car park, in Forde. You take Horse Park Drive following signs to Mulligans Flat. Stroll around this new reserve following bird trail. 3 hours 15 minutes 8.1Km stroll with stops at the Woolshed and the Bird Dam. There are Birds of Mulligan Flat brochure and a Mulligans NR brochure available in boxes near the main gate. Detour to the site of the original Mulligans Flat School and the Quartz Ridge in the south west corner

Goorooyarroo NR Start & finish at the car park along Horse Park drive on the way to the Federal Hwy. Climb Old Joe a hill on the border with views over the Federal Highway and Canberra. Nice walk through woodland and grassland with some amazing views. Visit an original border marker X4. The climb to Old Joe hill is quite steep but the views are worth it. Cooleman Ridge. Walk from Kathner St, Rivett along ridge skirting past house at Rivertt and Chapman and climb the trail to the top of Mt Arawang (765m). On the way back travel along the ridge top visiting the hill with the Split Cherry and huge Kurrajong tree, Cooleman Trig, and the Niblo Boulders. Superb views of Canberra from the north down south to Mt Tennant and the Brindabellas. Couple of moderate climbs over 8KM distance, 3 hours

Yankee Hat

Drive down to Yankee Hat Car park in Namadgi. Its about 77km and take 1.5 Hrs. Turn right near end of bitumen on to Old Boboyan Road at about 73.1Km then its 3.4 Km dirt 2WD road to Carpark and locked gate. There are two concrete causeways with a little water to cross over. Then walk over grassy trail to aboriginal painting site and with some gentle climbing towards the end of the trail. Lots of kangaroos. Walk of 6.2km taking 2.0 hrs

Guide to Grades

Grade Description
Easy should be fairly simple walks on tracks or grassy ground with minimal altitude change. Typically would be a max of 2 hrs and 6-7Km walking
Easy-Medium should be similar to Easy but might involve some small amount of climbing or slightly longer distance. Typically would be a max of 3 hrs and 8Km walking
Medium really aimed at the Scenic type of walk with some climbing, maybe more difficult navigating. 3 hrs or 12Km walking
Medium-Hard is probably the hardest we should attempt. Essentially similar to Medium but with more intense climbing or longer distance. Good examples are Mt Majura, Mt Taylor, Mt Tennant. Max 4.0 hrs or 15Km
Hard for the experienced Typically a lot of off track walking in difficult terrain or long distances ie 25Km or 6 hrs

Guide to Social Trips or Scenic Harder Trips

Grade Description
Easy Social trips need to be Easy or Easy-Medium and involve minimal climbing or minimal off track walking taking no longer than 2.5 hrs and 8Km length
Medium Scenic trips will mostly be Easy-Medium to Medium-Hard with some climbing involved and maybe some off track walking. Possible might take up to 3.5 hrs and be 12Km length
